About Me

My name is Andrew, and I have been living and working in East Asia since September 2002. I have travelled to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.

Originally I trained in biological science but much of my career (before leaving the UK) was sidelined into various modes of chemical analysis. Eventually I tired of this and decided to forget about science (in more ways than one, as you shall see) and return to my dream of supporting myself by teaching in Japan whilst learning the Japanese language.

However, fate intervened again. First I went to Taiwan, which was nice but staying long-term was prevented by the unhelpful attitude of my recruiter. Then I went to South Korea, where I have been ever since.

I hope that my writings about my experiences out here benefit those who come after. But that is not the only theme of this blog . . .
